Weekly UPDATE 7-17-05

Dear family, friends, and fellow walkers,

Well, the day finally got here!!! Let me start from the beginning. I arrived in Denver on Wednesday night. Thursday and Friday were filled with getting ready for a fund-raising dinner on Saturday night. We had about 100 people there and raised around $12,000, bringing the total of Walking to Denver’s effort around $34,000.

Sunday morning started out with a great pancake breakfast followed with 50 or more people from the Lakewood Church of Christ walking with Jeff from the bottom of the hill to the church. The service had wonderful singing with a few words from Jeff and the preacher there, Reg Cox. After that those that were walking the last 12 miles with Jeff followed him out the door where the rest of the congregation was waiting to cheer them on. It was a very hot day and a few of us did not make it. One was me, (Sherri) and Walker. But my 70-year-old mother made it every step of the way along with our daughter Jennifer and her boy-friend Russell, and several other special friends.

Once we made it to Shakespear which was the end of the 12 miles there was a lot of the kids that live on the streets there along with channel 2 of the news. There were a lot of pictures taken and I hope the Webmaster, Justin, can get some of those on the web for us. Everyone had ice sundaes and a good time with Jeff.

Jeff and I spent the next four days going all over Colorado and sight-seeing. I came home on Thursday. Jeff will continue on for three or four weeks longer and try to gain some more support for Dry Bones there in Denver and spend a little time with the kids also.

This has been an exciting journey for all of us, and we just want to thank all of you who have spent the last three months praying and thinking of Jeff and Walker. Walker has a book in the writing already and we hope to get it out soon. Jeff will also be writing about his adventures along the way. I can’t wait for you to hear all about them. I will keep you posted.

Please keep Dry Bones and Walking to Denver in your prayers for we are still looking for funds and hope to get the word out about this ministry. Check back with us for a final word from Jeff about his journey!

Love to all of you.

Jeff’s other half,

Sherri Robinson
